Online Counselling

Working online is not necessarily better or worse, it's just a different way to access therapy that may better suit your circumstances. It gives us more flexibility, cuts down travelling time and perhaps you would feel more comfortable being in a place you know. If you are considering on-line counselling however, there are a few things to consider. We can discuss these before we start therapy, but I have listed below a few of the considerations to keep in mind.

  • Are you happy using the technology?
  • Do you have sufficient internet bandwidth for a video call?
  • Is your device secure and for your use use only?
  • Do you have a safe, confidential space where you won't be disturbed?
  • Would you feel safer (or perhaps less safe) being at home for the sessions?
  • Would you feel comfortable that the session was not less personal on-line?
  • Are you OK closing your computer and going straight back to daily life?
If we agree to work on-line (either exclusively or in part) I will ask you to look at and agree a modified working agreement to include this aspect of our work. You can find sample working agreements here
